Belize Spice Farm in Belize growing in Toledo with Kerala Indian technical expertise.

Dr. and Mrs. Mathews, first visited Belize 20 years ago.  They recognized the Toledo district as similar to Kerala, the state in their native India.  So they started a spice farm, located around Golden Stream.   Got to see it myself someday.  It's about 2.5 hours of driving on the Southern Highway, from Belmopan.  They have your basic large citrus plantation, but many other spices.  They have a lot of black pepper, vanilla,   They produce 3000 lbs of black pepper a year.  They also have a bit of SOUR PEACH,   They have bits of pieces of sandalwood, silver oak, the banyan tree, nutmeg and cardamom.  I definitely want to see their cardamom and find out how it is doing, being grown in the relative lowlands of Belize.  I'll make the trip for that alone, one day.  You can find a more detailed article in the AG REPORT issue 18 for OCT/NOV  2012.  It is online.

Belize grown BLACK PEPPER.  So far, up to 3000 lbs a year production.
