BELIZE INTERNET NATIONAL PENETRATION AT 10% OF POPULATION -2012

Where Belize stands for internet.  The only viable service for business is from BTL.  Smart has by the minute, or second service for cell phones.

The Statistics show that Belize is way down the list on available internet service.  Out of 142 countries, we are only ranked 132.  This has hindered economic development over the past 25 years.  Basically, only district towns and the capital and port have internet of any worth.  The tourist destinations of Caye Caulker and San Pedro on islands boast the best in the country for some reason.  I was downloading a file yesterday at 3 kb a second.  If you can believe that out here in the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena town.

Only 10% of the nation has access to internet service.  We are a rural nation mostly.

While the towers are not there to give internet service to more than 10% of the country population, bandwidth and channels are going to jump to 4 G service.  Allegedly 10 times faster than what we have now.  Computers are expected to be the size of a fountain pen within two years.  Will not need a monitor, but can be used on any flat surface.

43 communities in Belize, actually do not yet have electricity and they are so remote in rural areas, that alternative means than the national power grid are being contemplated to supply them, via wind and solar.  143 villages do not have any kind of infra-structure available to use internet anyway.  Unfortunately priorities are a cabinet perogative and new cars for cabinet ministers some allege, are more important than many needed infra-structure things.
