DOZEN PELICANS SIGHTED ON CAYE CAULKER, BELIZE THIS SEASON

Pelican at Caye Caulker, Great Barrier Reef, Belize.

CAYE CAULKER, BARRIER REEF ISLAND OF BELIZE ENVIRONMENTAL BALANCE IS BEING RESTORED

The environmental balance seems to be restoring after a half a dozen years of no pelican reports for the island of Caye Caulker. Did a count at the split today, while a fisherman was cleaning fish and a dozen young pelicans were floating around waiting for fish scraps. Also a couple of dozen, mano´war frigate birds flying overhead in the standing wave of air caused by the sea breeze hitting the warmer sand beach.

Whatever the cause of a die off of pelicans seems to be rectified and the bird population is coming back again.
